Tobias Titz

German born Photographer Tobias Titz gives an inside view on his award winning and long term Polaroid project Farewell 665 The DFB07 are proud to exhibit this work in their Main Programme

Tobias is widely recognised for his striking black and white polaroid positive/negative portraits which he creates using a 5x4 camera. His film stock - Polaroid 665 - was discontinued at the end of 2006 and Tobias will explain how his concept and working methods have had to adapt to this challenging situation

Because he uses a 5x4 camera, Tobias requires complete co-operation from his subjects This is not a 'grab' shot process - but a considered partnership between the subject and the photographer. People involved in the 'scratch series' portraits were able to have further creative input by scratching writing of their choice into the polaroid emulsion whilst it was still soft
