The Speakers
RICHARD EVERIST
Richard Everist started work with Lonely Planet as an editor and promotions person in 1985 when there were 12 people in the
company. He left in 2000 when there were over 500. Over the time he was at Lonely Planet Richards roles ranged from Marketing
Manager to Author to Global Publisher. He co-authored guidebooks to Nepal, South Africa, Papua New Guinea, West Asia and Britain
and was the Global Publisher from 1995 to 2000.
Since leaving Lonely Planet Richard has been involved with a variety of internet and print publishing projects, many of
them involving travel, and he was the CEO for Peregrine Adventures, an adventure travel company. He left Peregrine at the
beginning of 2004 and with his wife Lucrezia, and three children escaped to Torquay and started Best Shot! Publications.
PETER HYATT
Peter Hyatt is Australias leading architecture and design photo-journalist.
His books include "Local Heroes - Architects of Australias Sunshine Coast" (Craftsman House/ Thames and Hudson.
1998), "The Games Show Australia 2000" (Hyatt and Assoc.) and "Great Glass
Buildings - 50 Modern Classics" (Images 2004).
He is founding editor/photographer of Steel Profile magazine and founding editor/photographer of Vision magazine.
His photography and reviews appear regularly in INDesign magazine and numerous design related media.
PHILIPPE RUTTENS
Philippe Ruttens is a Sydney-based professional photographer (more on www.ruttens.com) and editor of Capture (Australias leading
pro photography magazine). He has been serving his commercial/media clients by combining a unique 13-year experience in marketing,
photography and publishing both in Europe and Australia .
Philippe will talk about the business side of photography. including the editorial market, working as a pro photographer/writer
and getting your work published
