The press photographer is often the first eyewitness to events that help shape our history.
Two experienced Age photographers, Jason South and Paul Harris, will present a series of their images and discuss the
highlights and dilemmas of the press photographer. What makes a good picture? How does the indivdual deal with the pressures
of an unforgiving profession?

Jason South took the wrong bus on a school tour and ended up at a newspaper. He knew immediately he wanted to be a photographer
when he walked into the darkroom for the first time. Jason is a Walkley award winning photographer famous for his gripping
images from Iraq and East Timor at the time of the vote for independence.

Paul Harris has covered events as diverse as the Federal elections and the Sydney Olympics. He began taking pictures on a
family holiday when he was 8 years old.
