This 2 hour workshop introduces you to the basic
principles of lighting. Too often people are intimidated by working in
a studio environment, yet artificial lighting is one of the most
exciting and seductive aspects of the photographic medium. Light is the
essential element of photography - we cannot work without it - so let's
get in there and really understand what it does.

Julie Millowick, who has an extensive exhibition history using photograms, brings to this workshop a fresh insight into
the technical and conceptual aspects of that medium. This technique dates back to the very infancy of photography, yet photograms
are a vibrant, sensitive and seductive way of using the photographic medium.

Julie Millowick's Melbourne studio specialised in corporate/industrial photography from 1978 with clients that include Shell,
Mayne Nickless, Westpac,Victorian Arts Centre, Victorian Ministry For The Arts, R.E.I.V.,Australian Wheat Board, Fluid Freight,
Australian Wool Corporation and Fruehauf Semitrailers.
Julie exhibited at the National Gallery of Victoria and Australian Centre for Photography in 1977 [Australian New Work]
She has exhibited and published regularly since then, with work being purchased by major photography collections in Australia.
In 1993 her work was exhibited in 'Intimate Lives' with Sally Mann, Nan Goldin and Jaques Henri Lartigue at the International
Fotofeis in Edinburgh, Scotland.
She is currently Lecturer in Charge of Photojournalism Latrobe University, Bendigo, Victoria
She is represented in collections at the Australian National Gallery, Canberra; National Gallery of Victoria; Burwood
State College; National Library; LaTrobe Print Collection, State Library Victoria; Horsham Regional Gallery; Bendigo Regional
Institute of TAFE; Castlemaine Regional Art Gallery; Bendigo Regional Art Gallery; Kew City Council and many private collections
